The infmetry Starfield Simulation Light comes as a DIY kit. While the instructions left much to be desired, the kit was fairly easy to assemble once you took some time to figure out how it all went together. For me the base part was fairly easy to assemble. It was the dome part that was a bit of a challenge.
In the end, with just a few design quirks, it was complete. It was not 100% as it should be, but it is fully functional and the resulting starfield projection on my ceiling and walls is very impressive. While I found this to be a very engaging and somewhat fun afternoon project, I think I will stick to pre-built gadgets from now on. However, I would definitely recommend this to even the most novice hobbyist. It’s definitely worth the effort.
